The Birgit Nilsson Days 2023, August 6-12, will take place for the seventh year in a row in the great opera star’s home region in Västra Karup. The concerts take place at three venues. In the Birgit Nilsson hall at Ravinen, in Västra Karup’s church and at Center Courten in Båstad.
The Birgit Nilsson days begin with a Master Class. With an audience ticket, you can take part in the teaching on August 4-7, 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The work culminates in a closing concert in the Birgit Nilsson hall on August 8 at 19:00.
Recipients of this year’s Birgit Nilsson scholarship will be announced on May 17. The distribution with concert takes place on August 9 at 19:00 in Västra Karup Church.

Top international singers take part in the performance, again this time together with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and a choir with singers from Bjäre and Helsingborg – all under the direction of maestro Pier Giorgio Morandi, an expert in Italian opera who last year made an acclaimed appearance at Birgit Nilsson’s Tosca in Concert.

Un ballo in Maschera with world singers
World singers Joyce El-Khoury and Michael Fabiano make their long-awaited return to Båstad this summer together with Swedish star baritone Fredrik Zetterström and master conductor Pier Giorgio Morandi.
After last year’s Tosca success, a special performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Un Ballo in Maschera follows – this time the finale will take place on the Birgit Nilsson days in 2024 at Båstad Tennisstadion with Staffan Valdemar Holm as director.
