Yo-Yo Ma to recieve The Birgit Nilsson Prize 2022

Today, President of Birgit Nilsson Stiftelsen Susanne Rydén, also announced that the Birgit Nilsson Prize 2022 will be awarded to the cellist Yo-Yo Ma. With 1 million US dollars, the prize is the largest award in classical music and is awarded to artists or institutions that are of great importance to international music life. Yo-Yo Ma is the first instrumentalist to be awarded the prize, which will be presented by King Carl XVI Gustaf at a ceremony in the Stockholm Concert Hall on 18 October 2022.
