The theme of the 2021 exhibition is “Birgit Nilsson – on the world stages”

The permanent exhibition Birgit Nilsson – moments and tones gives you an in-depth knowledge of Birgit’s career and life.

Who was Birgit Nilsson? What made her so unique? The story begins in her childhood home, then take us through her years of study in Stockholm and on to her international career as Opera diva, La Nilsson. With private mementos, recordings and pictures, the exhibits give glimpses into Birgit’s life – some shared by Birgit herself and others recounted through the years. The theme of the 2021 exhibition, Birgit Nilsson – on the stages of the world, offers visitors new discoveries and insights.

With the exhibition Birgit Nilsson – moments and tones comes a unique audio guide (available in English, Swedish or German) which gives an in-depth experience of the exhibits, including stories about what is on display and anecdotes about Birgit Nilsson; her childhood, the opera world, her love for her husband Bertil, and much more.

With the audio guide, you can also listen to Birgit performing some of her most famous arias and songs. You receive your own set of headphones, easily allowing you to choose which story you want to to listen to, when and for how long. As the story unfolds, you are welcome to take a seat and admire the dresses, memorabilia, and photos.
