From the end of September/beginning of October, pianist Elisabeth Boström will assume the position of CEO of the Birgit Nilsson Museum in Svenstad on the Bjäre Peninsula.
Elisabeth takes over from Gitte Lindström Harmark, who is retiring as CEO of the museum on the farm where Birgit Nilsson grew up and frequently returned to.
‘I am delighted to be entrusted with the task of developing the fantastic work already carried out at the museum. The fact that Birgit was a great ambassador for both Sweden and her home region is obviously a great inspiration for me in my new role,’ says Elisabeth Boström.
“It is with great pleasure that I welcome Elisabeth Boström to the Birgit Nilsson Museum. I am confident that our work to create a living museum, with Birgit as the guiding star, will be managed in the very best way by Elisabeth!”, says Gitte Lindström Harmark
‘Gitte has done a fantastic job in establishing this singer’s museum, which is unrivalled anywhere in the world. The Board is convinced that Elisabeth Boström, with her broad expertise, will manage and further develop the museum in Birgit’s spirit”, says Bengt Hall, Chairman of the Board Birgit Nilssons Minne AB.
Elisabeth Boström currently works as Casting Director at Malmö Opera and is responsible for Malmö Opera Academy, the two-year master’s programme for opera singers and rehearsal assistants that Malmö Opera has been running since 2016 in collaboration with Malmö Academy of Music. Elisabeth has also been a regular guest at the Birgit Nilsson Days.
Her freelance career has included tours in the USA, the Middle East and throughout Europe. She has appeared regularly on radio and TV, on numerous recordings and in streamed concerts.
