Summer vacation at Birgit Nilsson Museum

A summer filled with music and adventure for the whole family

The summer vacation is finally here – that long-awaited time of year when the days feel endless, the sun is high and children’s laughter fills the air. What could be better than a visit to the Birgit Nilsson Museum in the heart of Skåne, where history, culture and playful activities come together in a unique summer experience for both young and old?

This year, the museum is investing extra heavily in our younger visitors. In collaboration with the creative @johannaformochdesign, we have developed several fun children’s activities that invite both movement, imagination and the joy of discovery – amidst the beautiful surroundings and stories about our internationally beloved opera star, Birgit Nilsson.

Play and discover – a summer for children

Admission is completely free for children and young people up to 19 years of age, which makes it even easier for the whole family to take part in the museum’s summer adventures. This year’s new features include:

* Treasure hunt: Follow the clues around the museum area and find the hidden treasures. Maybe they will lead you to Birgit’s old hiding places or to a surprise in the garden?

* Stilts: Test your balance and have fun on our traditional wooden stilts – a nostalgic activity that attracts both laughter and small challenges.

* Jumping paddock: A classic game that never goes out of style. There are marked paddocks in the courtyard ready to jump – here you have to be both agile and focused!

For the whole family – discounted admission for adults

We want as many people as possible to enjoy an inspiring day together, so we are offering half price admission for adults who come with children. This means the whole family gets the opportunity to experience the museum – both the historical exhibitions about Birgit Nilsson’s life and career, and the playful activities that will make the day a summer memory.

A museum where history meets the present

The Birgit Nilsson Museum is located on the farm where Birgit grew up, and where her musical journey began. Here visitors can learn more about her path to becoming one of the world’s leading opera sopranos – everything from her childhood everyday life to the big roles on the world’s leading opera stages. The museum is a living place where music, stories and rural culture go hand in hand.

With this summer’s activities, we are creating a place where children can play, learn and discover, while adults can immerse themselves in the history of one of Sweden’s greatest music icons.

Opera sing-along at Birgit’s farm

We also welcome you to a magical late summer evening in the farmyard at Birgit Nilsson Museum – on Wednesday, August 6th at 5:00 PM you can experience a wonderful opera sing-along under the open sky together with Rickard Söderberg, Malmö Opera’s children’s choir and our exuberant sing-along leader Elinor Fryklund. Bring the whole family – it will be an evening filled with singing, joy and fellowship!

Welcome to a summer in the countryside – filled with music, laughter and memories

Bring the family and experience something truly special this summer. Whether you want to go on a treasure hunt, jump in the meadow, feel the stilts or just enjoy the beautiful farm – we have something for everyone. And remember: children and young people get in for free, and adults accompanied by children get half price.

A warm welcome to the Birgit Nilsson Museum – where the summer holidays sing in a major!
