Grand finale with the grand opera Aida and a new name for the Birgit Nilsson Days, which will be renamed the Birgit Nilsson Festival. On August 4-9, the festival runs, ending with Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida in a spectacular open air concert at B\u00e5stad Tennis Stadium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
B\u00e5stad Tennis Stadium is not only the Nordic region’s largest outdoor arena for tennis. After the summer’s success with Verdi’s Masquerade Ball, it is also one of the Nordic countries’ largest outdoor stages for opera – with a specially built stage and for audiences in both the center court and stands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– With both powerful music and intimate scenes, mammoth choruses, the well-known and majestic triumphal march and even ballet, Aida is a perfect opera for first-time visitors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aida \u2013 one of Birgit Nilsson’s favorite roles \u2013 is performed by the celebrated soprano Christina Nilsson! As before, Helsingborg’s symphony orchestra and a choir with singers from Bj\u00e4re and Helsingborg participate. First and last under the direction of maestro Pier Giorgio Morandi, current at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Vienna Opera, and for the third year in a row in B\u00e5stad.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to Aida, the festival includes the traditional scholarship concert in V\u00e4stra Karup’s church, a six-day masterclass in front of an audience at the cultural center Ravinen at Norrviken’s gardens, and not least a content-rich program at the Birgit Nilsson Museum, which newly appointed CEO Elisabeth Bostr\u00f6m will present shortly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
