A Family Day in the Spirit of Birgit, with the World Premiere of The Little Dutchman
As part of this year’s Birgit Nilsson Festival, the museum hosted a special family day.
And what a day it was! Children played in the garden, followed a treasure map through the exhibition, had their faces painted, picked berries and enjoyed playing and having refreshments together with their families.
At three o’clock, it was time for a much-anticipated world premiere! The Little Dutchman— an interactive family performance created especially for the occasion — was performed in the courtyard for an enthusiastic and attentive audience of all ages.
On a day like this, when Birgit’s childhood home is filled with children and families gathering around opera and theatre, the place comes alive exactly as it should. A memorable summer’s day filled with music, laughter and new experiences. Birgit would have loved it.
* The Little Dutchman is inspired by Richard Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman, which brought the festival week to a close.
