August 2 \u2013 8, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Birgit Nilsson Festival 2026, a master class will be held from 2 – 8 August with the multi-award-winning German baritone Matthias Goerne. The teaching will focus on opera and concert arias, as well as German Lieder; English-language repertoire may also be includedThe master class will conclude with a student concert on 7 August at 3:00 p.m. at Ravinen Kulturhus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n


Master class participants will receive free admission to all other events during the festival, including the closing outdoor performance of Wagner’s The flying dutchman<\/em> on 8 August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applicants are asked to submit a brief description of themselves and their qualifications, a complete CV, and a current audio and video recording, preferably featuring both opera and lieder repertoire, including at least one work in German. Please also include a preliminary repertoire list of approximately 15 German or English arias or songs to choose from, which will form the basis for the repertoire of the final concert on 7 August. Songs by Edvard Grieg may also be included in the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applications must be submitted by email to masterclass@birgitnilsson.com<\/a> and received no later than 1 April.<\/strong> Successful applicants will be notified on 1 May<\/strong>. For any questions, please reach out to the email address provided above.1 May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Target group:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professional singers and singers who are about to graduate from a music or opera academy\/ conservatoire. The group is limited to 8 participants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Course fee:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

14.000 SEK<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breakfast and single room accommodation 2 – 9 August <\/strong>at the Apelrydsskolan, B\u00e5stad<\/strong>, plus lunch included in the course fee. Selected participants must make a part payment of 2.500 SE<\/strong>K by 15 May<\/strong> at the latest (non-refundable). The remaining fee must be paid by 15 June. <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
