The title role in Puccini’s magnificent opera Turandot is one of Birgit Nilsson’s most legendary signature roles. Now, Sweden’s internationally acclaimed soprano Christina Nilsson will take on the vocal challenge of Princess Turandot, performing the role for the very first time in Båstad on Saturday, 14 August 2027.
The internationally acclaimed conductor Pier Giorgio Morandi will lead an ensemble of world-class soloists, the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and choirs from across Skåne in this concert performance of Turandot, bringing the Birgit Nilsson Festival 2027 to a spectacular close.
Turandot features some of the most powerful and moving moments in opera history, not least the iconic tenor aria “Nessun dorma”. Welcome to a late-summer evening of glorious singing and powerful emotions, where Birgit Nilsson’s legacy meets the next generation of international opera stars.
